1. BOC Credit Card

BOC credit card is a convenient way of paying for purchasing goods and obtaining services.
BOC offers a selection of credit cards which are designed to pay for things in shops or online. You also can use credit cards for cash withdrawals from ATMs. Bank of Ceylon is the pioneer of introducing a credit card under international brand name “VISA”. Now we are celebrating the “25th Anniversary” of the BOC Card Centre. BOC credit cards are more secured with Micro Chip. It’s all about a digitally encrypted micro chip. Much more secure than the standard magnetic strip, it makes sure your information cannot be secretly copied in a transaction. This super feature is now added to BOC Credit Cards. Merchants can also provide their customers this superior security by signing up for BOC chip enabled POS terminals.

3.1 Interest free credit period

3.9 Easy settlement plan
  • Easy settlement plan facilitates you to pay the transaction value of the products/services purchased in equal installments.
Payments can be made through,

 

  • Internet Banking
  • Mobile Banking – Paymate
  • ATM machines
  • Standing order from your BOC current or savings account
  • Island wide BOC branch network
You can pay 5% of the total outstanding and keep the card in regular status.
You can pay the outstanding of the credit card in full or part thereof, but not less than 5% of the outstanding balance. If you fail to settle the minimum amount of 5% of the outstanding amount on or before the due date a penalty of Rs. 750/- would be charged. The remaining balance would be subjected to the prevailing interest rate.
If you fail to settle the account within 30 days from the due date, card will be blocked and cannot be used.
After 90 days the cardholder will be reported to CRIB as a defaulted borrower.
The importance of protecting your credit card information is even more essential now, with the introduction of online shopping and various other methods of payments. As such, it’s wise to be proactive in preventing card frauds happening to you. Furthermore, the responsibility always lies with credit card holders to safeguard their credit cards. Here is a list of important "do’s and don’ts" to safeguard your credit card.

 

5.1 Do’s & Don’ts

 

Do’s
  • Place your signature in the reverse of the card in the space provided.
  • Keep your card number confidential
  • Ensure that your transaction is processed in you presence every time you make a purchase.
  • Check your card when it is returned to you by the cashier to ensure that it is yours and that it has not been tampered with.
  • Retain your receipts so that you can check them against your statement.
  • Inform us immediately if suspected transactions are appearing in your statement or received a sms for a transaction which you have not done.
  • Keep your statements in a safe place as it contains sensitive information.
  • Inform the card centre if you are travelling to overseas and intend to use the card.
  • Notify us of any change of the address or the contact numbers to receive your statements and sms alerts correctly.
  • inform us immediately if your card is stolen or lost
  • The cardholder shall exercise all possible care to ensure the safety of the card and keep the PIN strictly confidential.
  • In order to safeguard the transactions, cardholder can register for free SMS alert service to receive transactions alert to your mobile phone number.
Don’ts
  • Do not disclose the PIN no, CVV no and the expiry date to any third party.

  • The card must be signed by the cardholder immediately on receipt of the same.
  • Once you receive the card, call 0112204444 to activate the card.
  • The rate of interest will be varied from time to time at the discretion of the bank.
  • Cardholder can withdraw cash from ATMs by using the card in combination with the PIN.
  • The bank shares the credit information with the Credit Information Bureau and other regulators as per the prevailing rules and regulations.
  • If the statements not received, please inform to the card centre.
  • An over limit fee is charged if your account balance exceeds your credit limit at any time.
  • Stamp duty will be 1.5% of the transaction value.

What is the minimum requirement to obtain a BOC Credit card?
  • Anyone who is above 18 years of age and having a net income Rs. 15,000/- minimum per month.
Can I use my BOC Credit Card as soon as I receive it?
You have to get your card activated by contacting us on the phone number given at the back of your card.
Why should I have a PIN for the credit card?
