     (Ran Kekulu Children’s Savings Account)

 

 

Ran Kekulu is the children’s savings account specially designed for the parents who wish to offer better future for their children. Ran Kekulu account can be opened at any Bank of Ceylon branch island wide by a parent or a guardian for their children below 18 years.


Features/ Benefits

Higher Interest –

A higher rate of interest (1% above the rate payable to Normal Savings accounts)

Life Insurance for Parents or Guardian –

The maximum insurance cover of Rs. 500,000/- or 10 times the minimum balance will be paid in the event of the death of the parent / guardian who opened the account  (Minimum balance of Rs.5000/- to be maintained for a period for 6 months prior to the date of the death)

  • The parent or guardian who opened Ran Kekulu accounts for more than one child will be covered up to a maximum Rs: 1,000,000.00 (Maximum 3 accounts per one depositor) 

Medical Insurance -

Medical insurance up to Rs. 100,000/- per annum in case of accident or 10 critical illness requiring hospitalization more than three nights. (Minimum Balance of Rs. 5000/- should be maintained for a period of six months prior to the date of accident/illness)

 

Private Hospital: Actual expenses incurred up to a maximum of Rs: 100,000/- or
Government Hospital: Rs: 600.00 per day for a maximum of 30 days

 

2000 Scholarships for the top talent in Grade 5 Scholarship

Minimum balance of Rs.2500/- need to maintain before the date of examination

 

What happens when the child reaches 18 years

Accounts will be transferred to 18 plus category automatically at the age of 18 years

 

Required Documents for Account opening

Birth Certificate of the Child
National Identity card of the parent or Guardian
Address proof (If not residing in the same place mentioned in NIC)
